“Today we remember three years ago, when thousands of people gathered together with the same purpose in mind: to express their opposition to the Trans Mountain Pipeline. We walked to Burnaby Mountain, the location of the terminus of the pipeline, towards the Watch House. While the Watch House was not a project of TWN, we support the rights of those opposed to the project to voice their opposition. More than ever, we rely on each other to maintain resistance to the project. TWN respects that people are compelled to voice their concerns and act according to their own beliefs to stop the project.

We have said before that in our varied opposition to Trans Mountain, we are many people paddling different canoes but we are moving in the same direction. We support and encourage all efforts to ensure safety and respect on this journey. We are heartened and inspired by the work of the youth, our elders, our friends and allies. Tsleil-Waututh Nation are the People of the Inlet and it is our sacred obligation to protect the water.”
